You've got no mail

As much as I love email and using the internet to communicate, I still enjoy getting letters and parcels delivered through the mail system.

Spare a thought for Britain’s Ascension Island which has been without mail since October because the Royal Mail has been sending its mail to South America.

The mail had been mistakenly sent to Paraguay’s capital Asuncion as well as Guyana’s capital Georgetown, which shares the same name as the Ascension Island’s capital.

A Royal Mail spokeswoman has said, “Steps have been taken to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”

We get concerned if we don’t get mail for a few days in a row. I can’t imagine finding nothing in the letterbox for a few months. Mind you, there are some letters we wouldn’t mind being re-routed to South America. They’re usually the long envelopes with the liottle windows in the front.
