Have you seen the latest research that says that a broken heart isn’t just an emotional experience? It seems that a sudden shock, such as hearing news of a death in the family, or someone breaking a relationship can trigger a condition that appears to be a massive heart attack except that the victim suffers no lasting damage. The condition, which researchers have dubbed the “broken-heart syndrome,” mimics a heart attack.
Apparently it’s not just negative emotional stress that can cause the problem either. They say that there’s a number cases where people have suffered the symptoms after being surprised by a surprise party. I’ve always wondered about that. I remember celebrating a birthday for an aunty’s 70th with a surprise party many years ago. I just kept praying that she’d survive the shock. She did.
I’ve never had a surprise party myself. I guess I know now that my friends care greatly for the health of my heart.

we gave my dad a surprise party when i was a teenager.
he did just about die of shock when a big guy from church jumped out of the darkened loungeroom at him and yelled surprise at a million decibels
it took him all night to recover, and dad made us promise to never surprise him again
