We went to a Quiz Night with friends last night. It was a great time and our table ended up getting second place overall.
The friends we went with are the kind of people that we wish we could catch up with a lot more often. David, Ainslie, Caleb, Allanah and Charlotte are good people. Isn’t it wonderful when you can feel completely comfortable with some people? Pauline’s parents also joined us on the table to round out the knowledge base.
While we were there I spied a lady that I hadn’t seen for many, many years. Sue and I went to the same church and the same high school many years ago. She is exactly one week younger than I am. She was the first person to convince me to try a less than tame ride (Wildwest Roundup) at the Perth Royal Show. Up to that time I would only ever try the wimpy rides.
I met Sue’s husband, Mark, at some Baptist camps that we went to years ago. Mark joined the army where he served for many years as he rose through the ranks and so he, Sue and their kids have lived in various places. They moved back to Perth a couple of years ago and it was good to catch up with them last night.
I used to live across the road from Sue’s cousins. One of those cousins, Trevor, and I were best of mates through school but we lost touch some time later. I’m hoping that Sue can put us back in touch.
As well as spending time with current friends and catching up with old friends, I was very pleased to meet a kind of new friend. Ellis Taylor is a guy who has made comment now and again here at The Journey and I’ve always appreciated what he’s had to say. Not long before we left last night he wandered up and let me know who he was. It was great to put a face to the name. It’s only a shame that we didn’t have more time to chat.
