Melting

Our forecast for today says that the temperature should reach 40 degrees Celcius, which is around 104 degrees Fahrenheit.

I’m considering turning up the air-conditioner in the studio here at work to the snap-freeze setting and just staying put for the day.

UPDATE: I think we’ve reached our maximum for the day and the temperature is now very slowly cooling down. Our highest temperature was recorded at 1:33 pm. It was 41.9 degrees Celsius which is 107.42 degrees Fahrenheit.

We tried to beat the heat yesterday when it got almost as high. We delivered some invitations for people in our community to join us for Easter church services over the weekend. We were going to head out as a family once I got home from work but it was still too hot so I cooked dinner first.

After we’d eaten we wandered out into the darkened streets to pop the invites into local letterboxes. It was quite a bit cooler and rather pleasant to be strolling the area together. Emily and James thought it was pretty special to be walking with mum and dad in the dark.

James took our big torch along in case we needed it. (We didn’t really, but he still managed to use it.)

I always enjoy doing stuff together as a family, even more so when it’s something a little different. After dinner it’s usually time to finish off homework, baths, reading and bed for the kids. Walking the streets is not normally on the agenda.

I find that theres something special about breaking the routine now and then.

  • Ouch… we get your weather if it makes it past Adelaide and it only in the low 20’s. Our CFA’s are doing some litter burning in the bush as I speak…perhaps its a bit premature with that heat on the way!
