Morning people

If James didn’t look so much like me we’d have to wonder if they switched babies at the hospital when he was born.

Neither Pauline or I are morning people. I can get up early if I need to but it takes a little while for my brain to kick into gear first thing. I usually stagger out of the bedroom in the morning wondering if my eyes will ever focus.

James is almost always up before me. Most times well before me. By early I mean sometime after 5 but well before 6. He always seems to be bright and ready for a day of adventure.

He is the most adorable boy and even though I know he’s not, more often than not I’m quite happy to believe that he’s perfect. I wouldn’t swap him for all the money in the world. It’s just this morning thing that gets to me.

This morning when I got up he was putting a DVD into the CD drive on the computer and wondering why it was having trouble. He then went on to find his Yo-Yo and started practicing all his tricks. Of course I have to watch them all.

I understand that the world needs morning people and non-morning people. I just don’t understand why they have to be in the same family.

  • I don’t understand why they have to come from the same family either, Rodney. You’re well off being the same as your wife. I’m not that lucky.

  • Hmmm, something about that entry reminded me of my own childhood. I was the morning person then (still am really), and it used to drive my parents crazy!
