A good face for radio

I reckon that it’s probably a drawback sometimes to be working in an industry where you’re constantly recognized. Actors, celebrities, polititcians, those working in TV and a few others come to mind.

While I’m sure that being noticed sometimes has its benefits, it would tend to impinge upon your privacy.

It seems that a suspect in a couple of taxi robberies in the U.S. found out that being recognised has it’s downside when he walked into a New York police station and failed to notice his picture in a “wanted” poster on the wall. It gave the police one of their easiest busts ever.

A detective noticed the resemblance and the 20 year old, who had gone to the station to inquire about his friend who had been arrested in another investigation, was arrested himself.

The good thing about working in radio is that while there may be thousands of people listening to me at any time, they still have little idea what I look like. Thankfully I can walk into any police station in the country without fear of being arrested. Of course if I start talking, I may be in trouble.

  • Kinda reminds me of another story I heard a few years ago about a well-known Brisbane Broncos rugby league player. This guy caught a taxi and spent the entire ride telling the cab driver what a superstar he was, before doing a runner without paying the fare when he reached his destination.

No problem, first thing on Monday morning the cabbie paid a visit to the Broncos club and reported the incident. The club paid the fare, and hit the player with a $1,000 fine, or so the story goes.

  • Well first of all you are quite nice looking so guess you have to give up the radio job 🙂

Secound Thanks for visiting my blog and I couldn’t let my wussyness overcome my annoying curiosity so I got the wrong number message and didn’t get my BE credits darn it. But I did it on the work puter so just in case 😉

Happy Memorial Day! Hug a vet today!

  • Hey Chris – sounds like another example of how smart some people aren’t.

HollieTheMom, thank you. I’m blushing. 😉

Andrew, how did you know that I’m prone to putting my foot in my mouth?
