Hello … who are you?

Are there people that you see every day that you don’t even know?

As I cycle to work each day there are a lot of people in cars that I see at the same place at the same time each day. There’s a guy with a tennis racket excersizing his two dogs at a park that I pass. There are also a few regular walkers making their way around the same park. There’s the tall lady with the straight black hair at the bus stop in Crimea Street and the other lady around the corner in Walter Road who is sometimes joined by her sister. There are several others that are regulars on my route too.

I try to smile and nod or say good morning to some of the walkers that I see regularly.

There was a fellow cyclist that I would pass each afternoon when I worked in my previous job. We’d always smile and nod as we traveled past each other in opposite directions. I wonder if he ever questions where I went.

There’s obviously so much more to each of these people than I see. I have a quick glimpse into their lives each day and they get a quick snapshot of mine. I don’t know what their homelife is like, where they work, their joys or heartbreaks.

It’s strange to think that there’s a group of people that I sort of know so well but we’ll probably never even know each others names.
