Another day at the office

This is a picture of David Cook (left) and me presenting another episode of Tech Zone at 98.5 Sonshine FM.

It’s great having a job where I can explore so many different subjects. Tech Zone is heard each Friday morning but I host a number of other segments during the week as I present the 9:00 a.m. to Midday programme on-air.

On Mondays we talk about raising a family. On Tuesdays I chat to a psychologist / counsellor about a range of issue from personality types to depression. Wednesdays is our day to explore spirituality and belief. Thursdays we talk about healthy living with a naturopath / nutritionist.

On top of all that I get to interview a range of other people from musicians to health professionals and a range of people that are working to make a positive difference in the world.

As I’ve said before, I love my job.

  • rodney, this is really cool – if i click on the link for “sonshine” to the right – 9:00 m/f – what would that equate to for the east coast of the u.s.??

you are about a day ahead of us, no?

i would love to give you a listen…

  • Hello Martha

    Perth is UTC/GMT +8 hours.

I think that the east coast of the US is UTC/GMT -4 hours.

That would put you 12 hours behind us, meaning that at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday night your time, I’ll be starting my 9:00 a.m. Monday shift.

You can listen live via the website. Let me know if you get a chance to do so.

  • Some of the discussion topics you have sound quite interesting. I’m not able to listen while you’re actually on air as I’m at work. However, I’m wondering if there’s anywhere on the net I could perhaps obtain a transcript of the occasional show.

  • OK, after last week, I understand the copyright issues, here: you, or the photographer have the right to publish this photo in any way you see fit. But I’m sure I haven’t signed any waiver or anything for you to use that image. Especially the one with the ‘David Brent’ pose. I must have some recourse, surely. Surely. 🙂

Also, guys, all the previous episodes are downloadable online as a bunch of MP3s or as a podcast at the Sonshine site.

  • Rodney,
Thanks for coming by my blog… strange new thing for me.. this blogging thing.. anyway, it’s so wonderfully refreshing to hear that you love your job! Why do you think more people don’t pursue a job they’d love? Money, courage, passion…. what stops people from doing what they’re called and created to do? Any thoughts?

  • In the photo….who’s sharing an office with the control rack (or has the control rack moved)?

  • Hi Lance.

Remember in your days at Sonshine FM how there would ocasionally be a few leaks here and there in the newsroom? They got bigger.

About a month ago, when the rain kept coming for several days, the newsroom got completely flooded. There were buckets and containers all over the place.

End result, they’ve moved the newsroom to the rack area.

  • Thanks for stopping by Rodney. Yes, the streaming continues to work quite well. My son gets a kick out of listening to a radio station on the other side of the planet. He also made the comment that you do not look as Australian as you sound. Take that however you’d like ;^D

  • Hmm…I thought of moving the newsroom to the rack area when I was there….to be closer to the newsbooth…but I thought the rack area would be too small.
