The sporting calendar

So Wimbeldon begins today. Being on the other side of the world from the action means that most games will run well into the night on our TV screens. Will you be staying up late over the next couple of weeks watching the battle?

I’ve got to admit that I love it when Wimbeldon rolls around each year. I’m not a huge tennis fan but I do enjoy watching the odd game now and then if it’s on at a reasonable time. I guess the reason that I like Wimbeldon so much is not so much about the tennis, it’s more about the fact that I know that if Wimbeldon’s on, the Tour de France isn’t all that far away. It’s really just an indicator of the time of year for me.

This year’s Wimbeldon Championships finish on the 3rd of July. The Tour de France starts on July the 2nd. My only problem this year is that SBS is showing every stage in full which will be the middle of the night Perth time. I’m still trying to figure if I can fit in any sleep at all this July.
