I was reading an article today that says that Sharp has developed a new television that allows two different programs to show at the same time depending where you sit in the room. The liquid crystal display set can simultaneously display different images into the right and left sides of the screen through a backlight.
They claim that you’ll get an uninterrupted view no matter where you sit, but what you see will change depending on the angle. Sharp will begin mass production by the end of the month, with the product hitting the shelves next year.
Sounds like a great idea. Imagine not having to go off into the other room and watch the little TV while the kids watch their movies.
Of course it’s all a little bit like life. We can all be looking at the same thing and it’ll appear different to each one of us depending on our angle.

So how do they intend to resolve the sound issue? While the parents might not necessarily *see* the kids’ movie, will they still be able to hear it in the same room?
That was going to be my question. Perhaps they will have a pair of headphones each.
I was wondering about the sound thing and my guess was seperate headphones too.
Guess we all had the same question. I could see the argument not being about who gets the remote control, but who gets to listen to program they are watching!
I really hope this doesn’t take off! It is about as acceptable as everyone watching their own portable DVD players and playing handheld games in the “living room”. On an international flight an incosiderate “gentleman” was watching a portable DVD player with sound blaring out. It was only an action movie (zoom, pukka pukka, crash, boom!), but who knew what he was next going to put on!! The flight attendants had to ask several times (very politely) if the player came with headphones before he got the idea.
