This is an amazing story about an 11 year old girl who was arrested for throwing a rock in retaliation for a group of boys who were pelting her with water balloons.
Of course it was wrong to throw a rock but do we really need three police cars and a helicopter to handle typical 11 year old behaviour? Should we lock children up for reacting wrongly? I hope this level of over-policing never reaches Australian shores.
Oops sorry. I forgot. We do lock children up …. in immigration detention centres …. and they don’t even have to throw rocks to get there.

first let me just say it’s nice to read you! second, this whole story is just rediculous. she’s only 11 years old! actually, i became a little upset with the authorities and how they’ve treated her. it’s like she walked around with a gun in her hand threatening the neighborhood. sometimes i felt like throwing a rock at those little adolescent boys when i was 11. thank goodness someone had the nerve! i bet they’ll never pester girls again!
As a kid growing up in Werris Creek, I’m just glad we didn’t have enough police to arrest me for throwing rocks. Then again, I hope this post won’t be used as evidence retrospectively. 🙂
Wow…amazing how just one state away, I haven’t heard anything about this. The other day, I threw a rock. I guess I could be prosecuted as an adult. Come to think of it…when I was young, I was hit by a rock. Who threw that? Hello? 911?
I once hit a girl in the head with a spiny seed pod, and split her head open. (This was while we were in Primary School). Amazingly, I didn’t get in trouble, and we’re good friends now…I’m just lucky that I live in Australia 🙂
