One of the big advantages of cycling everywhere is that you get to see things as you travel rather than simply rushing past. You also get to hear the world a little bit clearer and take in the smells along the way. Of course taking in the smells isn’t always an advantage but it’s pretty good some days.
Cycling past a shopping centre this morning was a sheer delight as I sampled the aroma of freshly baking bread. If I wasn’t already running a little late I might have taken a quick detour to grab a loaf.
Maybe I’ll just have to get away from home a little earlier and see if the taste matches that wonderful smell.

I work right next to a big commercial bakery…there is nothing worse than getting out of your car in the morning and smelling freshly baked raisin bread – and not being able to have any!
It will.
Unlike coffee, the taste of freshly-baked bread lives up to the promise made by the smell.
I really miss the freshly baked crossant that I had in Paris!
