Market segments

I’ve finally got around to organising an eye test for this afternoon. Over the past few months I’ve noticed that my right eye isn’t quite as sharp as it used to be.

The interesting thing is, when I made my appointment yesterday, the shop assistant almost used the name of another optical store. She was asking if I’d ever visited one of their stores before and corrected herself halfway through saying the name of what I thought was a rival store.

I figured she had probably just changed jobs but I checked the details out online and it seems that they’re the same company. In fact, they’ve got another chain of stores as well under a different name.

The information I found said that the three brands help them to target different market segments. Now I’m wondering which market segment I’m in. I hope the store I chose isn’t their high income market segment. They’re bulk billing the eye test so it may be the middle income segment.

If I do need glasses I’ll have to make sure that I let them know that I should be part of the budget market segment.

  • No! Organising isn’t the same as scheduling.

I could ‘schedule’ an appointment but unless I ‘organise’ the details with the other party, it’s not going to happen. 🙂
