Oh Christmas Tree

We got a new Christmas tree this year. Pauline found it at a great discount price just days before Christmas.

It’s not huge but it’s certainly much bigger than the little one that we’ve had in the past. We used to have to put the old one on a table to give it a little height.

I know that Christmas trees are meant to go up towards the start of December but we were running a tad late. How late? Well it was the early hours of Christmas morning by the time it was all in place.

We had to get it up so we’d have something to put the gifts underneath.

It came complete with instructions which I assure you I read, just not very carefully. Once I had spread the foliage on each of the 32 branches and inserted them into the base and trunk, which I had assembled earlier, Pauline and I noticed it looked a bit sparse.

So I re-read the instructions, pulled it all apart, re-spread the foliage and put it back together. Much better. Then Pauline did the decorating.

I was so proud of our achievement. At least I was until Emily asked me on Christmas morning if it was the new tree or the old one.

  • We bought a new tree this year too. We spent the Sunday evening putting it up & decorating it while we listened to Carols in the park on 98 5 Sonshine FM. Was a fun evening.

  • It’s beautiful! And I wouldn’t mind waiting until the last minute to put up our tree. I think our’s went up on the 20th this year, it’s coming down tonight for sure.
