Back to work

Yesterday was the first day back at work for the new year for a lot of people. Were you among them? Have you had a couple of weeks off to recover from the festivities?

Maybe you’re one of the rest of us who didn’t really get a break over the Christmas and New Year period.

Its been rather quiet around work over the past week or two but of course we’ve still been operating. You can’t just shut down a radio station because everyone else is on holiday. Several office staff took advantage of the quieter period to take some time away. There’s still a few people enjoying a break but things are getting back to some kind of normal.

It’s always amazing how productive you can be when your workplace is less populated. I would never want to outlaw the social aspects of work but it’s great to have some time with your head down and tail up.

If your year is just starting to get cranked up I hope that you’ve been able to ease in gently. I suppose the next official break for us down under is the Australia Day holiday on the 26th of January. Do you think you can make it that far? Once again though, it won’t be a holiday for me. I’m likely to be on-air for my regular 9:00 a.m. to midday shift before heading to our fireworks celebrations at Ashfield Reserve.
