Cheating

I was reading this morning that a third of young Britons have passed off a ready made meal as their own creation in order to impress someone. It seems that women are the worst offenders, with 40% saying they had claimed food bought in a shop as their own; that’s compared to 22% of men.

Seven per cent of the 16-24 year olds questioned admit to regularly claiming credit for food they’d bought. The research, conducted as part of a campaign to encourage people to eat more fruit and vegetables, also found that one in 10 had never cooked a proper meal for themselves because they “don’t know how.”

They also discovered that women were more impressed by a man’s cooking ability than whether he owns a flashy car.

I can’t ever remember passing off food I’ve bought as my own. On the other hand, there are a few times when something hasn’t worked out quite like I had imagined and I’ve wished I could shift the blame by passing off my cooking as something I’d bought.

  • I haven’t done that either BUT my hubby once arranged a special date for me and him when we were in yr 12. He had a friend chauffer us in his kingswood to another friends place where he had two other friends in the kitchen cooking our tea. The table was set really nicely with a good tablecloth and candles. Then it came time for the meal………..Hungry Jacks meal deals on plates followed by chocolate mousse! Pretty funny, I’m not exactly sure what the friends in the kitchen were cooking!
