The humble milk crate is certainly an amazing invention. You know those plastic crates that seem to end up everywhere but where they’re meant to be? While they legally remain the property of the dairy that provides them, they do seem to get out and about a lot.
I’ve seen them used for everything from seats to storage containers and even bolted onto pushbikes and motorbikes for carrying extra gear.
I glanced out the window a couple of mornings ago and noticed someone on the roof of the building opposite 98.5 Sonshine FM. He was checking the air-conditioner units. While he used a ladder to get onto the roof he did have a milk crate with him to use as a step to get to some of the taller air-conditioning units.
Who would have thought that a piece of moulded plastic, designed for the movement of milk, would become such a universally used aparatus.

The milk crate – the perfect storage solution for university students everywhere.
Best thing since the invention of the wheel.
also good for youth group games – namely, see how high you can climb and stack at the same time. record stands at 14 crates (using a safety harness and matting around the crates, of course!)
Uhm, yeah, that’s my bookcase, bathroom accessory case, kitchen filing cabinets, ect ect. Love them. Here in the states, they now sell them at all the discount shops.
sell them? why buy them when you can steal them from the back of the deli… umm I mean, no, buying them is a great idea, who said anything about stealing, stealing’s bad. Don’t do drugs kids.
