What is it with weeds? Why can’t they find some empty paddock to go and live out their days in peace?
I finally got tough with the weeds growing up through our brick paving last night and sprayed them all with weed poison.
Why would they choose to grow in tiny cracks in brick paving instead of in a bare patch of land? Why do they choose the hard way? The gaps in between the bricks are so small that there is no way that they can grow big, thick, healthy stems. Despite all the limitations, they still choose to grow in a hostile environment, and not just grow but thrive.
Oh well, they’ve had their time. In the coming days the poison will start to act and they’ll slowly droop and die. Then I’ll be able to remove them all ….. until next summer when their cousins turn up to do it all over again.

hmmm, sounds like a life-lesson in there somewhere. 😉
I’m with you on this one. I hate weeds. Mind you, I’m also glad we have chemicals that make the job a lot easier than pulling them out by hand.
Rodney – bad news! Check my blog for details 🙁
We’re not dealing with weeds at this time of year in Minnesota, but my Wisconsin sister says that if you pour boiling water on weeds they will shrivel up and die. I never tried this, however, but it seems a good alternative to chemical stuff.
Or, you could move to a colder climate and only have to deal with pesky weeds seasonally. 🙂
