Cycle Instead

One of my favourite times of the year is almost here again. Bikeweek is a 10 day celebration of two wheeled transportation here in Western Australia.

I missed last year’s Bike to Work Breakfast because I was on my way home from India but I’m really looking forward to this year’s event. Apart from last year, I’ve had the duty of being MC for the last dozen or so years. I’ve also done live on-air crosses to 98.5 Sonshine FM each year. It’s always wonderful to be amongst thousands of other cyclists.

I won’t be doing a live cross this year because our entire breakfast programme will be live from Supreme Court Gardens for the event. I’ll be down there as part of the show before rushing back to our Morley studios for my regular morning programme.

If you’re a cyclist in the Perth area make sure you’re in Supreme Court Gardens anytime between 6 and 8:30 on Friday the 10th of March for a free, healthy breakfast.

Oh, by the way, maybe you can help. We’re trying to think of as many songs as we can that relate to cycling. Can you think of any songs that mention bikes or cycling?

98.5 Sonshine FM will also be giving away 5 bikes during Bikeweek. More details soon.

  • Well I can start off with the two most obvious ones from Queen, “Bicycle” and “Fat bottomed girls”. Another obvious one is “The pushbike song” from the early 70’s, except I cannot remember who sang that one.

  • Sorry I don’t know any songs.. I’m having a mental blank…

Anyway, I am going to start riding in preperation for bike week.. Como to Bullcreek isn’t too far to ride.
