Questions from Iris

Continuing with the questions from readers, Iris asked, “Were you born in Perth or elsewhere? What do you think is the best part about Perth, what makes you stay there? You call your blog The Journey and I think you refer to life. Is there something you can say is the top highlight and do you want to share maybe?”

Thanks for your questions, Iris.

Yes, I was born in Perth. I was actually born at King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women which is in the Perth Suburb of Subiaco. 15 and a half years later I started work at the same hospital as an apprentice cook.

I love the Perth lifestyle. It’s big enough to have all the services that I need while being small enough to feel like a community. Perth people are generally a lot more laid back than those in other cities and the natural beauty of Perth and Western Australia make it the perfect spot to live.

Is there a highlight from my life journey? There are lots of highlights. As I’ve mentioned before I’m in a job that I love. Even better than that, I have the two most adorable kids on the planet. Then to top it all off I’m married to the world’s most wonderful woman. The day Pauline said she would marry me was a highlight as was the day I met her and the day we married. Add to these things the fact that I feel that I have been very clearly directed by the creator of the universe and life is pretty good. I certainly have bad times but there are so many highlights that I know that I have no reason to complain.

  • Hi Rodney,
thank you for your answers. Yes, this is exactly what I love about Perth: It´s a great city, yet you can feel like beeing in a village, too. Community is the magic word.
My boyfriend and me live in different places due to work, so family-live is different for me. But I am lucky too, I really love my job. Thinking of how much time we spend in our working surroundings, it´s really a very important point to have found the right job with a good team and a lot of fun coming along with the actual work, I think.
Saying that, I wish you another happy day 🙂
