I mentioned a few days ago that I had started taking a detour on the way to work to get a few more kilometres on my bike. A shame that I had to start such a venture right when the mornings are getting colder. I suppose I’ll just have to put on an extra layer or two.
I’ve been heading through a small section of the Swan Valley, in and out of Guildford, and then onto work.
I decided to extend the detour a couple of mornings ago. I added several more kilometres onto the distance. I’ve now decided that some stretches of Great Eastern Highway might not be among the best places to be on a bike at seven on a weekday morning. It’s obviously a good place for large trucks judging by the number of them rattling past me at great speed.
Oh well, back to the map to find a slightly different route. I’ve now found a much quieter extension but I haven’t had opportunity to try it just yet. I’ll have to give it a go next week.
I must say that it’s quite wonderful doing something first thing in the morning that lets you know you’re alive.

I think I saw you the other morning riding along Collier Rd on my way to uni. I was on Tonkin Hwy.
