Fuel prices rise again

We keep hearing that the price of fuel will continue to rise. Some are saying it won’t be long before it reaches $2 a litre here in Australia.

I’m always amazed when big, loud V8s and 4WDs whiz past me. You can just hear the dollars being sucked through the engine. I’m so glad I’m not paying their petrol bill.

Pauline’s Camry isn’t too bad on fuel but it still hurts every time we have to visit the bowser.

What about my fuel requirements? Each morning I get around 34 kilometres to a bowl of cereal and a glass of fruit juice. I’m pretty happy with that kind of fuel economy.

I get the feeling there’ll be a lot more people taking up cycling in the coming months.

  • Yeah, it’s gonna hurt driving to Bentley for uni from Ballajura if fuel goes up to $2 per litre. It already hurts the uni student’s budget.

  • I’ve been using public transport to get to work over the past few weeks. The problem is that Perth’s system is so indirect. It takes me over an hour, whereas by car its about 20 minutes.

  • Unfortunately I start work at 7.30am and finish at 7pm, so Mr X and I have to take separate cars – there is no public transport here

and we’re noticing the difference in our bank balance after we visit the petrol station!

  • I am on a quest to buy a Vespa or Lambretta…to save fuel…yeah right my wife says! She thinks I just want to bee cool, trendy etc, I say I am too old to be cool…just the reason you think you need a Vespa Scooter she says. Do I hear “try hard” in there? Do I hear “mid life crisis”?
Well Mr Olsen, if you want to see me Scooting the streets of Perth on my scooter then head to my new fund drive and click away! http://www.scootersnoop.com
$2 per litre before Xmas is my prediction!

  • You should try living in the UK. The price of petrol is astounding (around £1 per litre, or $2.50) … not that it worries me, as I cycle and use public transport to get around.
