The ride to work was rather spectacular this morning. As I was cycling through the Swan Valley I glanced across to notice a beautiful rich orange red glow right across the top of the hills. The sun was just beginning to rise and it was magnificent.
A little later in the journey, after passing through Helena Valley, I came to a level crossing and saw hundreds of white cockatoos on the railway tracks. Just then the boom gates started to come down and I watched a rather long freight train approaching. As it got nearer to the birds they started to fly off in a huge white column. They seemed to go on forever. Once off the tracks they just kept circling the area. They were probably waiting for the train to go so they could settle down on the tracks again.
Of course I could have gone the short way to work and stayed in bed a little longer but why on earth would I trade such a wonderful start to the day for an extra half hour of sleep?

Sleep is highly over rated anyway. Your ride sounds lovely. I might need to find out the route you take as an alternative to my usual early morning ride.
sleep is for the WEAK!!
Exactly! I got up at 4:30 am and have nothing to do now. We depart …. when I get Fay out of bed and breakfasted! We have a long journey today… hopefully about 600+ MILES, heading east from Dallas Texas. God bless you and your family this Easter, Rod.
I completly agree with you.
Since riding to work I have seen 6 dolphins, a car in the river!, 5 rats & 2 sun rises 😛
All for only 30 minutes sleep in, I’ld do it any day
Another who agrees with you! I don’t ride to work, but within the month, I’ll be able to resume my 23 mile pre-work morning ride. We just jumped into daylight savings time, and that pushed daylight back by an hour. As soon as it’s safe again to start riding, I’ll be one happy soul! Until then, I’ll just make do at the fitness center.
