I want my …

There was an article in yesterday’s West Australian newspaper about the launch of MTV 25 years ago today.

It talked about some of the musicians that were on the playlist of the music video TV channel all those years ago.

It seems like only yesterday when this amazing new concept emerged and hit television screens in the US and some time later here in Australia but MTV is now part of the establishment.

I wonder what all the pop stars from 25 years ago are doing now. Some of them are still making music while others have faded from view. I guess one things for sure, none of them are getting any younger, which makes it rather interesting to see that the other article on the same page of the newspaper was about a new arthritis drug. Rather appropriate I thought.

  • there is a band called ‘bowling for soup’ that has a song ‘1985’ and a line in it says ‘…and music still on mtv’ refering to a woman stuck in the past, like where mtv still actually played music. Now its more a pop culture profit machine telling kids what to wear and say and do. They actually have an amazing market research team that go and live with kids to learn about them and their lives and program accordingly, its amazing!
