A very strong bystander at a road accident in southern Arizona heaved a car clean off a trapped teenage cyclist last week, possibly saving his life. You can read the full story by clicking here.
Eighteen year old Kyle Holtrust was hit by a car as he pedalled along a Tucson highway and city police say he ended up pinned underneath the vehicle.
A Tucson paintshop worker, Tom Boyle, grabbed the Chevy Camaro and lifted it clear off the ground, allowing the car’s driver to haul the injured cyclist clear.
Holtrust is now being treated in hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Local media is saying that the hero, Tom Boyle, is 1.93 metres tall and weighs 136 kg. That’s about 6 foot 4 and around 300 pounds. Tom’s a big boy. Apparently he had to yell several times at the driver of the vehicle to help him. I’d have to say that if someone like that yelled in my direction I’d simply say ‘yes sir’ and do whatever he asked.
The driver of the Camaro was driving while under suspension. I think he’s now got a lot of explaining to do.
I never have too much trouble with cars when I’m out on my bike but if Tom wants to come riding with me I wouldn’t say no. Seems like he would always be handy to have around in an emergency.

I guess if you got a flat tyre you probably wouldn’t need a bike pump. Tom would be able to put his lips around the valve and blow it up himself
