The last supper

I’m looking forward to dinner tonight for two reasons.

The first reason is that I’m taking Emily, my beautiful 10 year old daughter, on a date. We’re off out for dinner before going to see Swan Lake on Ice at Burswood Theatre.

I want my daughter to know how she should be treated on a date so that when her time comes to be out with a guy (in about 25 years) she will expect to be treated as she deserves.

The other reason I’m looking forward to dinner is that it’ll be my last meal before 40 hours of no food. A frightening prospect.

As I mentioned earlier this week I’m doing the World Vision 40 Hour Famine for the first time in many years. It might be a struggle but the end result will be worth it. It’s remarkable how just a few dollars can turn so many lives around.

I’m still looking for people to sponsor me by the way. If you’d like to contribute to helping people break free from poverty just click here and you can donate online directly to World Vision to support me. Your donation will be registered as part of my tally for the weekend.

  • I just read a post over at EmergingBlurb with the same heartfelt ‘dad’ vibe

your daughter is blessed to have such a dad

  • You’re a great dad Rodney. (And just a darn great guy, too!) And you are going to be so hungry at the end of 40 hours. I’ve heard that by the 3rd day, or maybe it’s AFTER the 3rd day, you quit being hungry, so i think you’ll be mighty hungry at hour #40! So how can I NOT donate some money in your honor!

  • Wow…40 hours! That is great!

Here in the states we just do 30 hours. I wonder why World Vision does it different in Australia.

I have been doing the 30 Hour Famine with students for over 10 years. It’s one of the best events we do all year. World Vision is a great organization!
