Big Purple Undies

A new segment debuted as part of my radio programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM this morning.

Louise Kelman is a comedy performer who, together with her sister Suzanne, wrote a book titled Big Purple Undies. After it’s huge success they wrote a show based around the book and toured it very succesfully through the US.

Their website says, The Show incorporates fun stories in comical verse about marriage, men, motherhood, flying false teeth, mammograms and unstickable HRT Patches told from their award winning book “Big Purple Undies” But also this purple clad sister act sing, dance and engage the audience in an hour and a half of hysterical laughter.

The Kelman sisters were born and raised in a large family in Birmingham England. For Entertainment on a tight budget, the sisters and other siblings would write and perform comedy shows for neighbors and friends, with an entrance ticket for their shows selling at around 2p each.

While Suzanne continues to tour the show in the US, Lou has returned to Perth with her family and will now be a regular part of my Wednesday morning line up. We’ll be taking a comical look at some of the many weird yet true news stories that appear throughout the week from various news sources.

Today we talked about at a city in India that’s about to be painted pink, a mother who was involved in the kidnapping of their own son four times to extort money from her husband (she made around $1.6 million), the fact that taser guns don’t work effectively on cows, a man who boils eggs without water and a life size igloo built out of chocolate. We had a lot of fun talking about all the possibilities these stories raised.

If you want to be part of the fun be listening on Wednesday mornings just after 11:00 a.m. Perth time. If you’re not in Perth you can listen on-line through the website.
