This day 8 years ago was one of the most special days of my life.
8 years ago today we welcomed our son James into the world. Over the past 96 months we’ve seen him grow and develop into the wonderful boy that he’s become and we’ve seen glimpses of the man he’s becoming.
Back then it was hard to imagine that we could love any child as much as we loved Emily, who was just over 2 at that stage. From the moment that he was born we knew that God has given us more than enough love for both children.
It’s been great to see his character reveal itself. There’s so much about James that reminds me of Pauline and lots that remind me of me. But I suppose one of the most amazing parts of his growth is seeing the things that are uniquely James. He certainly does take after us but he’s still absolutely unique, one of a kind.
I have no idea what God has planned out for the rest of his life but I’m just so glad that together with Pauline and Emily, I’m getting to share a part of that life with him.

happy birthday james!
what kind of things did he ask/get for his birthday?
i find it funny sometimes hearing kids go on about something they like, and remember back to my younger days when i had the same things (though not as hi-tech)
We gave him a set of Mr Bean DVDs, some books and a few other bits and pieces. He was very excited.
He’s not entirely well today so he’s taking the day off school and watching several hours of Mr Bean. 🙂
Happy Birthday my darling James. Has he taken his eagles beanie off yet. James isn’t allowed to be sick on his birthday I hope he is better soon.
Happy birthday! My son is 9 and I know exactly what you are talking about!
Wow. What a wonderful tribute! Happy belated birthday to the little guy!
Happy Birthday James
I am a big fan of MR Bean too!
Thanks for all the wonderful birthday messages. James had a marvellous day, despite feeling unwell. 🙂
