Time out

Saturday may have started in a flurry of activity but it ended very differently.

I was up early on Saturday. I got into my cycling gear and then headed off to meet 5 other guys around 6:30 for a quick 50 or so kilometres before stopping at the local cafe for coffee. Once that was done I cycled home and arrived just before 9 o’clock.

From there it was a matter of getting changed and packed before heading to McDonalds for a 10 o’clock start.

As soon as we’d finished at McHappy day on Saturday, Pauline, Emily, James and I jumped in the car and headed south.

Thanks to Pauline entering an online competition, we spent a night in Busselton at Abbey Beach Resort. Brilliant.

Our afternoon was quite wonderful. After taking the 100 metre walk to the beach and back, we used the outdoor pools and the spa in the suite. Later on we ventured into town to grab some dinner. We took the dinner back to our suite and enjoyed eating on the balcony overlooking the lake.

I was up pretty early on Sunday and enjoyed a relaxing time reading. A while later I made a cup of tea for Pauline and then organised breakfast. After we’d eaten we headed off to the indoor pool for a few laps.

After vacating the suite around 10 o’clock we headed to the Busselton Jetty (pictured) for an icecream and a bit of sightseeing. Then it was a long drive home with a stop in Pinjarra for lunch by the river.

It was a very relaxing family weekend.
