Proud parents

On Friday Emily finished Year Five and James completed Year Two at school.

I had the privilige of being at their final assembly for the year on Friday afternoon. The final assembly is traditionally the time where the outstanding students from each year level are recognised for their work throughout the year.

When the Year Two teacher stepped up on stage we listened intently. Last year James had received the Academic Achievement Award for Year One and had made us extremely proud of his efforts.

His teacher started to speak. “This award is presented to a student who is enthusiastic and shows a positive attitude to their work. This person has achieved high marks through all their schoolwork, and always presents work of high quality. The Year Two Achievement Award is presented to James Olsen.”

I wiped the tears from my eyes but I couldn’t wipe the smile from my face.

A short while later Emily’s teacher stepped up to the microphone. “This Person always applies 100% effort to her work. She strives for excellence and very often achieves it. She thoroughly deserves this Year 5 Academic Award. Well done Emily Olsen!”

Emily had previously won the Achievement Award, the highest academic award for each year level, three years running in Years One, Two and Three.

Looks like both Emily and James deserve a good break during these summer holidays. They have made both Pauline and me extremely proud yet again.
