New URL for The Journey

I’ll admit it … I’m cheap.

Well maybe that’s not quite the answer, maybe it’s more about not having a lot of money to splash around. I’ve wanted to have my own domain for this blog for some time but the options available meant that I needed to register the domain then pay to host the blog. I figured that I had better ways to spend my money.

Yesterday I was even toying with the idea of moving to WordPress and paying a little for them to host my domain. It meant a lot of mucking around and a lot of work transferring posts and photos so I thought it was all too hard. WordPress can import old Blogger blogs but not new Blogger blogs so even the most basic importing was impossible. They might be a good option for people starting a new blog but I’ve already invested a lot of time into this Blogger blog.

Saturday morning was a different story. I woke up to find that Blogger has just announced that they’ll host domains free for Blogger blogs. Brilliant. I still have to pay for domain registration but that’s all.

From now you’ll be able to find this blog at www.rodneyolsen.net. Anyone trying to reach rodneyolsen.blogspot.com will still arrive at the new URL but if you do link to my blog, I’d be very appreciative if you could change your links to www.rodneyolsen.net. Thanks.

You may have had a little trouble accessing The Journey over the past couple of days. Sorry about that. It was all part of swapping over to the new domain.
