Back in time

I recently went trawling through my audio archives at 98.5 Sonshine FM to find some of the interviews I recorded before we started our Audio On Demand service. I wanted to pull out a few interviews which may still be of interest and that would be worth sharing online.

Here are three interviews that go back some time. I think that they were all recorded in the second half of 2005. The interviews are with Rick Joyner, Jack Deere and Neil T. Anderson. All three of these men are embraced by sections of the Christian community and shunned by others.

All three of these men were visiting Perth for conferences. As I remember, Rick Joyner and Jack Deere were in Perth together. Some material in the interviews may be dated, especially references to current speaking engagements.

Whatever your opinions on these men and their ministries I hope that you’ll find the interviews of interest.

Rick Joyner heads MorningStar Ministries which he co-founded with his wife Julie Joyner in 1985. He is also the founder, executive director, and senior pastor of MorningStar Fellowship Church based in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He is also a well known author of more than thirty books, including his best selling The Final Quest series. He is a highly sought after speaker at international conferences. A number of his books are about the prophetic ministry in the modern church, including several books based on heavenly revelations he has himself received, always stressing that no prophetic revelation can contradict scripture.

Dr. Jack Deere is a charismatic pastor and theologian from the USA. He was an associate professor of Old Testament at Dallas Seminary, a bastion of cessationism, the doctrine that the charismatic gifts of the Spirit, such as tongues, prophecy and healing, ended at the close of the 1st century. In the late 1980s, he abandoned his earlier theological position after experiencing the charismatic gifts for himself through the ministry of John Wimber. Deere’s 1996 book Surprised by the Power of the Spirit details his journey into charismatic Christianity, and argues against the cessationist position that the miraculous gifts of the Spirit have ceased. A companion book, Surprised by the Voice of God, argues for contemporary prophecy and supernatural revelation.

Neil T. Anderson is the founder of Freedom in Christ Ministries and also founder and president of Discipleship Counseling Ministries. He is a much sought after speaker on Christ centered living. Besides authoring the bestsellers The Bondage Breaker, Victory over the Darkness, and Daily in Christ, he has co-authored many books, including Getting Anger Under Control and Breaking the Bondage of Legalism.
