We are the Champions

We caught up with some friends from Pickering Brook last night. Pauline and I took the drive up the hill to take part in a quiz night.

It was a musical quiz night so there was a fair bit of expectation aimed directly at me. Working in radio gives people the idea that I know all things about music. Not so.

Never-the-less our table won. I also won a $25 voucher for a wonderful Cafe and Patisserie named Le Paris Brest in a game of heads and tails. I’ve been meaning to drop in there for some time seeing as it is a favourite haunt of local cyclists.

Winning was good. I’m now wearing a fake Nike polo shirt that was part of our winnings. I’ve also installed the Panasonic cordless phone that we won as part of our table’s first prize. We’re looking forward to a couple of dinners at a few different establishments too. (Mind you, we still haven’t worked out what we’ll do with the big ugly beer mugs.)

We had a wonderful night out with good friends and winning was a wonderful bonus.

  • Maaaate! Le Paris Brest is THE cafe in the hills and pretty much anywhere if you ask me. Their cakes and coffees are sensational. It was one of my other ‘offices’ while I worked at LBC

  • Shouldn’t the beer mugs go “straight to the pool room”? To quote The Castle.
Another option is a Christmas present for someone you really don’t like. Or just one of those joke Christmas presents that you give to someone one year, then the next year they give it back to you, and the next you give it back to them . . . and so on, and so on, each time more elaborately and creatively wrapped and presented.
