Watch it!

I needed to take my watch off yesterday and as I was undoing the buckle, the strap busted. I’ve got another watch which takes the same kind of battery, so I whipped off the back of both watches and changed batteries.

My stand in watch was off and running. I popped the cover back onto the watch with the broken strap, then proceeded to get nowhere fast trying to put the cover back on the other watch. I spent hours. I used thumbs, which are now painfully sore from all the pushing. I used pliers; I even used a hammer. Is it bad to hit a watch with a hammer?

Is still haven’t managed to get it back together. I know it fits because it was on there in the first place, but it has no intention of ever returning.

At the moment, I’m watchless. Last night while I was the MC for Carols in the Square I had to keep looking at my mobile phone to see what the time was. I’m sure people thought that I was checking for phone calls all the time.

Now I’m left looking at my wrist every fifteen or so minutes and the only thing to see is a tan mark where a watch used to be.
