Changing sides

A lot of people like to admit to being self-made men or women. I prefer to consult experts where I can. On the other hand, I’m also cheap, so consulting experts doesn’t always fit into my budget.

Up to this point I’ve played with the template for my blog through various changes over the past 18 months. I’ve dabbled in design and come up with something which, while it may not be the prettiest blog around, has been functional and looked fairly much how I wanted it to look.

One thing I’ve never been able to work out is how to move my sidebar to the right hand side. Today, after our Tech Zone programme on 98.5 Sonshine FM, our technical expert, David Cook, showed me how to change sides. To be truthful he didn’t just show me, he went in there and did it for me.

While messing with the template, David also found a couple of formatting errors. He fixed them for me and now things are looking and working a lot better. You will probably find that the blog loads a lot quicker now. I know that it was often slow in the past. Let me know if you notice the difference.

Thanks David.

  • Hi Rodney

Your blog page opened up real quick. Great formatting job by your tech guy, and as always a good read.

  • phew
my first thought was he’s become a Satanist or a homosexual
then I read further and discovered you were just rejigging the sidebar from one side to the other

feedback: it loaded heaps quicker – YAY for us speed demons!

  • Thanks guys. Good to know the improvements have improved things. 🙂

Kel … as long as you didn’t think I’d switched to supporting Collingwood.

  • Your page looks so good! I noticed immediately that it was refined, and very plaeasing to the eye:)

I am tagging you with a book meme, hope you don’t mind and haven’t done it yet.

  • Looks great Rodney. I like that you don’t have one of the cookie cutter blogger templates.

    Blessings,

  • It’s great to be getting so many good comments about the changes I’ve made. Thank you.

As well as David’s work in changing the sidebar you would have noticed that I’ve been tinkering again myself and ‘squeezed’ the blog so that it’s not so spread across the page. I think it’s easier reading the text if the lines are a little narrower.

Hey ilona. I will accept your tag. I’ll post my response as soon as I get a chance. Thanks.

  • Hey it’s nice to see you’re finally on the right side! 😛

    That was a joke 🙂

  • Wonderful! I will enjoy it ( said in my best Conehead voice)

You have done an excellent job on your blog, so now you can relax and enjoy it.

I love the colors and your pics- it feels like a vacation.
