If you’ve ever spoken to people who like to try things a bit out of the ordinary, things that are a little risky or that push the boundaries, like sky diving, bungy jumping or in my case cycling through India, you may have heard them reply that life is a risk and you can get hit by a car by just crossing the road.
Apparently you don’t even have to get out of bed to face that kind of risk. A man is in a stable condition in hospital in the US after he was run over by a car while sleeping in bed. The guy was asleep when the car came crashing into the bedroom of his home. Police said the driver of the car failed to negotiate a bend in the road. The Ford Taurus travelled more than 150 metres, clipping a telephone pole and rupturing a gas pipe before finally ending up in the guy’s bedroom.
I’m glad that he’s alright and I hope he recovers quickly. I guess life is always a risk. We need to learn to manage risks in our lives while still being daring enough to try things that might be considered a little hazardous so that we know that we’re still alive. Fear can be crippling. Don’t let it stop you from living.

Yeah, but a little bit of prayer never hurts, right?
I was riding in Puerto Rico and was hit by a truck. It messed up my back pretty good, but the helmet saved my dashing good looks (ha ha). I still ride and am not concerned about being hit again.
I do, however, pray on a regular basis that God will keep me and my family safe.
so is it true…if you die in your dreams you’ll never wake up?
Very good advice. I saw that story on the news ~ very scary, indeed. Caving is also incredibly risky. You’re right, we need to take all the precautions we can to protect ourselves, while still realizing that our life is in God’s hands.
