She was very gentle about it, but my little girl reminded me that I’m getting older yesterday afternoon.
I was given some money for my birthday last week and so I went and bought three CDs by Diana Krall. I bought The Look of Love, Live in Paris, and The Girl in the Other Room.
I told Emily that if she practiced really hard she could play piano and sing just like Diana Krall.
I put on one of my favourite tracks, a cover of Joni Mitchell’s A Case of You (you can watch a video of her performing the track here) and asked Emily what she thought. “Well dad. I think you’ll find that young people’s music is a bit different these days.”
Thanks Emily. Point taken.
Mind you, I’m not defeated yet. I figure if I play her enough of my favourites, Emily will eventually come to like them as much as I do.

*chuckling* … weren’t we all like that at some point in our development!
I love Diana Krall, and I love Joni Mitchell… and now the two of them have combined with a DK cover of A Case of You which is probably my most favoritest Joni tune? How great is life? 🙂
LOL!
Keep at it. My kids have grown up listening to Billie Holliday, The Andrews Sisters, Patsy Cline, Cold Chisel and Queen.
Hey, what’s the point of having kids if you can’t bend their heads a little?
