I had a wonderful time on Saturday night with a very special young lady.
As I mentioned a couple of days ago, Pauline and James went to see The Goodies on Saturday night so Emily and I had a dad and daughter date. I had grand plans of treating Emily by eating in at the local Chinese restaurant. I thought we’d have a special meal, table service, the whole deal.
Emily wasn’t so keen. She wanted to eat at KFC. We had KFC.
After we’d finished dinner we took a stroll home and watched a DVD together. Then we played a game of battleship, then a game of fish, then snap. It was a busy night but it was fantastic.
I love family time when we’re all together but having that time just with Emily was so very special. I wonder where we can go on our next date.

Rodney, this made me cry. Good tears. Your Emily is blessed. I know you spend time with her because you love her, but there is so much more that goes on “behind the scenes” in a girls heart when her Daddy spends time with her. She learns to feel special, she learns that she is lovebable…she learns things that will help her know her self worth when she hits the teen years when she goes through so many confusing emotional changes. You are a good dad. It makes such a huge difference in a young woman’s life. Fortunately for you and Emily you will probably not have to endure a lot of the things that can happen when a Father’s love is not present in the home.
once again: awwwwwwww. That really is precious!
and I agree totally with Layla, amen!
kezza.
going by this entry, do you really think you HAVE much say in where your next ‘date’ will be?:) Sounds like Emily does all the decision making for it;)
Glad to hear you had a good time!
You’re a good man, Rodney!
Yeah, yeah. But how was The Goodies?
🙂
I’m told that The Goodies show was excellent. It was non-stop laughing from beginning to end.
At the end of the show Pauline and James got to go backstage and meet the guys.
I always smile when I read your posts about family life. Of all the roles in our lives, that we may be blessed with, being a father is right up there as one of the most important and one of the most rewarding.
