There was a very strange sound in our house on Saturday morning. After a very bad night’s sleep I woke to hear a mixture of chatter from Emily and James and the sound of a SpongeBob SquarePants computer game that James got for his birthday.
James was working his way through the various levels and Emily was sitting at his side. When they came to a place where a decision needed to be made they’d discuss what should be done before moving on again. Sometimes they’d disagree but they soon worked it out and got going to the next challenge.
They would have spent a couple of hours working together like that. There was no big arguments, no running to dad or mum to sort things out, they worked everything through for themselves.
After all their hard work they finally conquered the top level. It was wonderful to see them celebrating together. There was a number of high fives and hugs. They’d done it. They worked as a team and overcame every obstacle together.
It’s those moments that make parenting all the more worthwhile. Every now and then you get a glimpse that tells you that they are learning everything you’ve been trying to teach them.

And here we are… 20 yrs on, and our kids are joining us on a trip to Sth America next Feb/March. It really is great when they get along well together. Mind you it’s not always that way!!!
That is so precious! Yeah, moments like that are awesome.
