Cycling in the rain

I’m currently at work, sitting in the wonderful air-conditioined studio, in the middle of my on-air shift.

As I look out the window I notice that it’s beginning to look a little threatening outside. The forecast is for a hot day, a maximum temperature around 37 celcius, (around 100 fahrenheit) with afternoon thunderstorms and showers.

I don’t know why but I thought that the the storms would roll in after I got home later today. Looking at some stretches of sky I’m now starting to think that I may have misjudged the situation.

I reckon I may just get a little wet when I cycle home this afternoon. I don’t mind riding in the rain, especially if it’s nice and warm, but if I know that it’ll rain on me I usually pack my spray jacket. It’s not so much to keep me dry; it’s more to protect my iPod Mini and my phone, which sit in the back pockets of my cycling jersey.

Oh well, I may just have to prove, once again, that plastic sandwich bags aren’t only useful for holding sandwiches.

  • Where are you that it is so warm? These days I am really strugling to get out of my warm bed in the mornings and get on my bike to go to work. I really dont mind riding in the rain, especially since one of my friends gave me some water proof bags for my rack to keep my things dry. But the cold…burrrr.

  • Hi Rodney,
I´ll jump on my bike, too, this afternoon to get to the dentist – which is no fun…well, the dentist! (I have some 40 km to work and take the car for that). We have around 0-4 celcius and I wish I could be back in Perth!
Have a nice day! Love to read your blog and see what´s happening over the big pond!
