Early morning cycling

I haven’t been cycling at such an early hour for a while. I pedalled into work this morning at around 5:30 and it was an absolute pleasure.

The sun was just on its way up. Everything was bathed in a lovely filtered light. The roads were fairly deserted and there was just the occasional walker or fellow cyclist. And have you ever noticed that everyone seems just that little bit friendlier in the early morning? There are smiles and nods almost as if we’re sharing something very special together.

I’ve really missed my regular Saturday morning rides over past months. Thankfully I’m part of a new group that will be riding every Saturday morning. Being at work and on-air from 6:00 a.m. to midday today I’ll miss out but all being well I’ll be joining them next Saturday at 6:30 for a 50 km ride …. and of course we’ll be stopping along the way for a nice hot cup of black coffee.
