Randomly accessing my memory

Do you ever meet up with someone who you’re sure you know but you just can’t place them? It usually happens for me when I see a person totally away from the situation where I’m used to seeing them.

I saw a guy at last night’s Randy Stonehill concert that I knew but I just couldn’t figure out who it was. He walked up to me and asked if I remembered him. I said I did but that I was searching for his name. I knew his face so very well but I just couldn’t figure it all out.

As soon as he said his name it all came together in an instant. I hadn’t actually seen him for a number of years and he now lives in Victoria so seeing him at a concert in Perth just didn’t fit. My mind was going all over the place and getting nowhere. The connections it should have been making just weren’t happening.

It was wonderful to catch up with Neil very briefly last night before duty called and I had to dash off. I’m hoping that we can get together over a coffee or a meal sometime soon.

  • Yes, I find these situations quite frustrating, especially if you cannot actually talk to the person and find out who they are. I have one of these situations at the moment where I have seen an actress in a promo for “The Concierge” on channel 10. She looks very familiar to me, but I cannot make a connection with where I might have known her. The vague recollection I have is with somebody I knew in real life many years ago, but why I would know somebody who is now in an English TV series I cannot fathom?

  • when in doubt, google. Google the show to find her name, google her name to find her bio, keep going from there… there is no end to the joys of google and imdb. Computer nerd? yes. yes I am.
