My not so new bike

New Cadent Bike

I finally picked up my ‘renewed’ bike on Friday afternoon.

It looks completely different to the bike that I’ve had since 2008 but a lot of the components are the same. Same wheels, seat, gears, brakes and most other bits and pieces. The new bits are the frame and a new front derailleur. I’ve also put brand new tyres on the bike.

The story is that my previous frame developed a crack in the rear dropout, derailleur side.

Avanti bikes carry a lifetime frame warranty so I took the bike to Avanti Plus Cannington and they replaced the frame with the current model Cadent frame. There was no argument or discussion. They saw the broken frame and immediately got to work organising the replacement. They were great people and the mechanic did a wonderful job of putting the bike together.

It’s very much a step up from my previous frame and rides so very well.

For the last couple of weeks I’ve been riding my much heavier, slower mountain bike. It feels great to be back on a road machine.
